My First Knitting Teacher
Since we've been thinking about our mothers this week, here's a wonderful post our Senior Editor, Marina, wrote a few months ago about her own mother, her first knitting teacher. Did you share knitting with your own mother? We'd love to hear your stories!

This week, I received a treasure: an old photo album with pictures of my mother and father (and me!) when I was very young (and some pics before I was born). The photo of my mother, below, was taken by my father in the 1950's and shows my mother knitting. This must have been a characteristic pose for her, because he also sketched her in almost the same position. She taught me to knit when I was a little girl, using straight aluminum needles just like she did. I don't recall actually finishing a project until I was in high school, but I have never stopped knitting!
